A rare weather has set in our neighborhood. Usually until the very end of October there is neither snow, nor frost, but this year around the weather was freezing since the middle of the month. Another peculiarity — when the freezing weather starts, snowfall comes with it, or the frost settles on the surface, so the period of uncovered ice is usually very short. Not like this time: the cold is not too deep, and there is no snowfall, so all the puddles are out and about, with all the sleek ice of theirs, and the forest contents inside. Saw enough of Julia Vtyurina’s🎞️ work and went for some experimentation.

Close-up scenes is not my familiar element. With that said it somehow turns out I regularly end up here this time of year with a macro lens. I do find under ice scenes quite attractive — not only due to their natural special beauty, but also because of their rarity in our area.

Julia’s technique relies in a good part on layer stacking in Photoshop, but I wasn’t able to find her instructions. So the shots I did, but what to do next is beyond me 😅

I also came the day before — mostly for scouting.
