A fallen pine tree in Kivitunturi. A scene full of atmosphere with the composition I didn’t even notice at the spot: -). The image is one of my favorites and I don’t feel ashamed about the print. The idea was to make the style similar to the collodion process, and I think it worked.
Another frame from Corbels canyon, outside of any series. Printed almost offhand — the scene was captured in several compositions, and this one I hitherto considered rather straightforward. Only after finding a monochrome rendering did I discover a richness in it. The print, however, is not without issues. The deep shadows area in the bottom left is difficult to render on a matte paper without a tonality loss. I was too cautious there and made a mistake.
Corbels canyon is an inexhaustible place, but this shot was difficult. The warm tones on the right and cold ones on the left bring in a contrast which to me seems undesirable in this composition. The blue in the shadows of the water is excessive due to a processing oversight. All in all, there is still enough to work on. The scene is good though, and the volume is there.
Finally, another one of Kivitunturi scenes. The frame, while unfortunately with some serious technical flaws, is artistically meaningful. On print the mass of the rock is outright impressive, didn’t even expect that.
The interpretation is of course what’s most interesting. Among the names proposed in telegram the winner was “Zero Gravity”. The winner gets the print:-).
